First trip to Waldron Island

Last weekend the family packed up for a car, ferry, and boat voyage to Waldron Island in the San Juans off the coast of Washington. Grandpa Steve grew up here, and we all had a good time introducing Miles to this very special place!

The ferry ride was lots of fun.

The Waldron boat was kind of crazy!

But we made it, and here we are arriving at the house.

On our first day we got a nicely timed good low tide, so we walked down the beach to a special spot Grandpa Steve knew would get us lots of delicious butter clams. Miles supervised the clam excavation and met some interesting creatures:

Miles LOVED playing in the beach, and we were blessed with perfect weather the whole trip.

Ha! Where did Grandpa Steve's foot go?!

Beautiful Sandy Point beach:

Miles also got to hang out and build sand castles with cousins Shaadaan and Aazaad.

On Saturday night everyone headed out to music night, where Daddy jammed on the harmonica and Miles was lulled to sleep by all the music.

A classic Waldron scene, at Rolph's farm where we stopped to pick up some fresh goat milk.
